Launch of PFAS-Free Wear-Resistant Grade N1005A for GENESTAR™ Heat-Resistant Polyamide resin

The Genestar Division of Kuraray Co., Ltd. announces the launch of N1005A, a PFAS-free, wear-resistant grade of high-heat-resistant polyamide PA9T.

Global regulations on fluorinated compounds, including PFAS, continue to tighten, driving increased demand for PFAS-free materials. While fluorinated compounds have traditionally been used to achieve excellent sliding and wear properties, regulatory and environmental considerations are accelerating the transition to alternative solutions.

Developed to support customer compliance with PFAS regulations, N1005A delivers sliding performance that exceeds that of Kuraray’s conventional PFAS-containing wear-resistant grades, despite containing no PFAS. Its high performance makes it well suited for demanding applications, particularly gears.
In ring-on-disk wear testing, N1005A demonstrated superior wear resistance under severe conditions that caused test specimens of PFAS-containing wear-resistant grades to melt, underscoring its robustness in high-load, high-temperature environments.
