Launch of PFAS-Free, Halogen-Based Flame-Retardant Grade "GN2350NP", for GENESTAR™ Heat-Resistant Polyamide Resin
The Genestar Division of Kuraray Co., Ltd. announces the launch of “GN2350NP”, a PFAS-free, halogen-based flame-retardant grade of high-heat-resistant polyamide PA9T.
In recent years, regulations on fluorinated compounds, including PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), have been tightened worldwide, and demand for PFAS-free materials is growing from a sustainability perspective. Additionally, reducing the blister formation rate has long been a challenge for SMT (surface mount technology) components.
The newly launched “GN2350NP” was developed for customers seeking to comply with PFAS regulations. It offers an excellent balance of strength and moldability, and compared to Genestar’s existing flagship grade*1, it reduces the blister formation rate in SMT applications, thereby contributing to improved reliability in the mounting process.
It can serve as a potential alternative to other SMT resins where PFAS-free formulation and blister reduction are key challenges. Furthermore, since it possesses properties similar to those of our existing flagship grade*1, it can also be considered as the next-generation grade.
